Audio grade and Hood insulation
I want to upgrade the audio system. I usually change out the head unit, speakers and possibly add an amp and subwoofer. I went thru this exercise on my 300D and it was a real pain. Partly because the cars are so well built that if you put a subwoofer in the trunk, you can't hear a thing!. Also, anyone have luck changing out the speakers in a W-126? Crutchfield states that the rear deck speakers can only be replaced with 3-1/2" mid range speakers. This will never work! Anyone have experience doing this?
The car I am looking at has a bad spot on the hood. It appears that the insulation under the hood has disappeared. Is it possible that the engine gets hot enough to damage paint? If so, this insulation must me pretty important to replace. Where would I find it?
