AMG wheels on a 420SEC (W126)

Hi there,

I have recently have had a set of AMGs refurbished without checking that they fir on my SEC.

The specs are:

Front: 225/45/18
Back: 255/40/18
both are 8.5j and have ET47

I think they were off a much later S class and are the monoblock style.

Does anyone know what size spacers I will need to get these wheels on the car?

The car is currently on bricks....

Any input will be very helpful

8.5 inch rims need to be at ET11 so you'll need some pretty thick spacers.

Hi alabbasi,

Thanks for that info. Do you what will be the minimum size I can get away with?

I'm assuming ET11 being the ideal offset but there must be an upper limit without spacers?

I mean whats the highest offset I can get put on the car on a 18 x 8.5j wheel?

I read on a thread that someones got ET31 on the same car without spacers on the same size wheel. So I take it I might get away with 15mm-20mm spacdrs?

What are your thoughts?

Thanks

Zed.

I can't answer that because i've not experimented with it. There are a number of wheel experts on the BW W126 forum that could probably answer your question.
I would check in there.

Good luck.

Just curious, how did you guys figure that 8.5" rims need to be at ET 11?

If the offset on your wheels is 47 mm, it sounds like you would need a thick 36 mm spacer to get it to ET 11. I'm just not certain how ET 11 is the recomended offset for the 126. Also, is having spacers that thick safe?

I've just put an order in for 25mm H&R DRA spacers for the front and 30mm for the back.

My next question is....what size bolts do I need?

The length from where the radius seat sits in the wheel to where it comes out on the other side is 20mm, so does that mean I need 45mm bolts for the front and 50mm for the back?

Looks very nice.
Did you use lowering springs? Such as H&R? Or is it stock?
I want to get the similar look on my 560sec and thinking about the same AMG monoblocks, only the ones from e55, 8j front and 9j rear, they have lower offset being 31 front and 35 rear.

Hi,
I personally didn't change the springs so I'm not sure. They are red though so if that's not the stock colour then they probably have been changed.

500 SEC
c2edb wheels

Hi

I have just joined this forum.....I like your wheels. I have similar 17" full polished wheels on my 500 sec which fitted perfectly without any spacers. I would like to know if your are 18" and if so, can you let me know where you got them as I would like to change mine to 18" also.

Thanks
chris

Jaakk, can you tell me what you are running for spacers for the front wheels on your SEC?
