surprise cheap paint match for small items!
A recent project where I needed to refinish a lugbolt endcap in Smokesilver led to a surprise discovery.
Krylon makes a rattle-can that is surprisingly close to the stock smokesilver paint.
I wouldn't use it for body work of course, but it is perfect for small item such as lugbolt endcaps. You will need two paints, the color, and the clearcoat because the color has no UV inhibitors, and you will need the UV-protected clearcoat to make this work.
Color: Krylon #51255 Brushed Metallic Satin Nickel Indoor Satin Metallic Paint. Barcode 7 24504 11255 6.
Clear: Krylon #2444 Fusion For Plastic Clear UV Protection.
Barcode 7 24504 24440 0. The Fusion For Plastic bonds very well to the color, and why not- it is a plastic right?
Looks perfect on clean metal and small items.
