85' 500 sel
85' 500 sel valve tap

hello ,

My 85' 500 has a valve tap coming from the front cylinder passenger side. I bought the car at 98k with the tap. I'm at 101k now and did the first oil change. I was hoping the tap was just from sitting. While filling it with synthetic 10/30 I noticed some pitting or slight galling on the tip of the cam lobe right under the fill cap.

Question, is there a valve clearance or " preload" adjustment that can be done?

Is it easy to change a lifter?

Car runs great and it is in exceptional shape. I want to nip this before it's a problem.

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks

Answer

Odds are 99.9% you need two of these.
One for each cam oiler tube.
They are plastic fittings that fail every twenty years or more.
