Question 85 MB 500sel; Idle Speed Adjuster Problem

Car has good spark, and good fuel pressure. Sometimes will start/run for short period with starting fluid, sometimes it won't start at all. Appears to be same with gas.

Checked Idle Speed Control, manual says to check for 12v on sockets 2 and 4. #2 has 12+volts, but #4 appears to be ground. Wires on couplings ok. Unplugged coupling from Idle Speed Adjuster, attached small testing light and volt meter, found that 12v would show on meter and light up bulb, but within 1-2 seconds the power would go off. This happen several times, then it would not come back on. Can hear the cam inside the unit function when it gets power.

Anyone know what could cause the hot wire on the Idle Speed Adjuster to not stay on?

Check if you can loosen the fuel line and check pressure. Ht and compression should be good to stay car running. However you need to be very careful in doing this. Have someone guard with fire extinguisher.
