Question 380se ?

Looking at the purchase of a 1984 or 85 380SE both are fully optioned cosmetically in good condition.

I would appreciate any guidance on what other trouble points to look out for. Obviously a full check over for rust in the traditional locations but any thoughts on engine issues, bushings , brakes etc would be very helpful.

Many Thanks
Thom

Air conditioning is expensive to fix. These need timing chains at 100k, and valve guide seals soon after. These also had soft camshafts. Mine were gone by 135k, also expensive. You can find a comprehensive buying guide on MBCoupes.com.

Congratulations on your new 380SEL! My last car was a 1985 380SE, and I drove it 17 years and over 100,000 miles. Loved that car!!! I still think it's one of the most beautiful cars ever built. Enjoy! The weak part of the car is the transmission (I went through 2 of them in 100,000 miles) and the air conditioning.
