Wanted: 560SEL Euro (Gray Market) Sedan

Hi:

I am looking to buy a 86-91 Mercedes 560SEL Euro (Gray Market) Sedan vehicle. I would like to know if anyone knows of any that are in the U.S.A. I perfer the Euro bumpers, headlights, and more powerful motor. If you have any leads on this type of vehicle, I would appreciate any information.

Thank you,
Todd

If you are going to import a car on your own or if you want to check the price level in europe try this : www.mobile.de
There will be offert several 560 SEL at anytime.

Smile If your interested.. and are still looking

I know this is an old post but... We have a 1984 560 SEL grey market in excellent condition for sale.. actually to the best offer. I'll get a photo if your interested. We are located outside of Harrisburg, Penna. USA.
This car has a 240 mph speedo, auto. trans., hydro. suspention, sun roof, power everything including rear seats, rolex clock, wood grain inst. cluster, dash and console, grey leather in a dark blue paint and so much more.
I'd really like to see someone who truly wants and appreciates the car to end up with it.

96 S600 Euro, 91 560 SEC, 88 300TE, 87 560SEL, 86 560SL, 80 280SE, 64 Austin Healey 3000MIII
170 eh..?? that's faster then a full on 365hp 32 valve 6.0 AMG Hammer SEC...

How does having a 'dyno done for it' tell you the car will do 170+...??? We do have this pesky atmosphere that gets in the way of trying to go fast you know.

I think you may have a 500SEL, the 560s did not come out until '86.

Eh... 170mph is impossible in that car. Now, considering your car is a Euro, I can believe it if you told me you reached 170km, something very possible considering your car's gauges may still be the original Euro km gauges and 170km = 105miles.

I take it you don't mean anywhere from 10,000 - 25,000 in dollars?

Hi Schwarzwagen,

Well the title says 1983 and the Car is a 1984 560 SEL! It really does exsist.. lol.
This car was shipped from Europe which I am told did have/use the 560s before 86.
The 560's just weren't available in the states until '86... unless of course you purchased and shipped it here from Europe... which is how this one got here.

Thanks,
Michelle

Hi Zaki,

There are 153k miles on it.

After a personal closer inspection the car needs some minor TLC here and there but is in pretty darn good shape for being 22 years old
I believe he's going to ask $3,500 ~ $4,000 for it.

I guess I can't ask if anyone knows what the "normal" going price is for this car, since it is.. (can I accurately say) "rare"...

Thanks for your help and replies.

The only way a 126 can get to 170 + mph on a flat is....

...With an engine capable of putting 360 + hp...
TO THE REAR WHEELS.

The only way I would think that she'd get there is without any resistance whatsoever. I know the 500 has pretty tall gearing, so it could theoretically get to 170 mph, if it was coming down a long, LONG, steep, STEEP, descent. With a Texas-sized tailwind, of course.

BTW, the 240 mph speedometer doesn't sound likely. The speedometer reads to 240 kph, as in kilometers per hour. I've seen the metric face.
