300 SDL
I some parts recommendations for an 86' 300SDL

Look I'm not really a car guy so I know buying an older vehicle was a bit of a gamble but when I saw and drove the 86' SDL and could own if for only $675 I had to buy it.

Luckily it has no serious problem which is incredible for dirt cheap. I just need recommendations or links to a few thinks I want to get for the car. I'm REALLY REALLY not concerned with getting the highest quality OEM parts for the car, especially for some of the not integral things, I just want some recommendations and links to things that are a good balance between price and quality. It doesn't have to be the best, but I also don't want anything i'll have to replace all the time.

What I want right now is:
-Front Left Window Regulator & Motor
-Water Pump
-Thermostat

And if possible the wood panel that goes around the shift console. Though I know these aren't too cheap.

Oh no I messed up the title. My life is ruined.

Search the web for Autohause--they are competitive and respectable.

However your next big issue is that you will be back whining about engine issues(misfires, wont start, wont hold an idle bla bla)----to prevent your frustrations and our bandwidth quickly search for a mechanic that has knowledge of the engine and the diagnostic tools to work on the car--else donate the car!!

I use ebay for 99% of my parts, and German Ebay as well. watch out for Euro brand parts,I never put communist chinese parts on any car. They always fail.Do a cooling system flush, and change thermostat first thing. The inline 6 is bad for destroying the head if it gets hot.

My $.02

Based on my ownership experience of the very same model, if you do not already have the benefit of a PrePurchase inspection, locate a qualified Benz mechanic and have your car's condition assessed. Forget the wood trim for the center console at this time. It is all about what is going on ( or not) under the hood that is more important than missing trim. Same with the window regulator. The window regulator is low hanging fruit on the Benz tree of car ownership as those parts are readily available. The engine components, especially the alum head, gaskets and the trap oxidizer are much more likely to give you pause and cause for abandoning this car sooner rather than later.

Good luck.
