Need a spare rim W126 for my '85 500 SEL

My spare wheel is missing and so I need a replacement rim. Need some explanation about "offset" etc., so that I can make an informed decision about what to buy. There's an eBay auction for sale of a BBS Mercedes rim with specs including 16 x 7 ET-23 mm offset. Per this auction, they have identified that this wheel was taken off of a 1984 500 SEL Euro. So if the wheel will fit a W126 chassis type, does it really matter what the offset information is?
This is my first day to the forum and would like to hear what others might know. My benz has 110,000 miles, taken care of impeccably with some imperfections that are being looked at. Exterior color is maroon, interior color is light tan. Other than that, it runs like a top. Sometimes I feel like I'm on the autobahn again.
