Why did you let someone rewire your car? What wires were moved?

The plastic gears in the mechanical VDO odometers are known to wear out. You can order new ones from www.odometergears.com.

Euro lights are available from PUMA-Access http://puma-access.com or Performance Products.

You said "i had some idiot rewire my car."

The instrument and center console illumination is on one circuit protected by one fuse.

For replacement parts, please check the following:

1. eBay
2. www.autopartsauthority.com
3. www.partsamerica.com
4. www.rockauto.com

You can always contact the ebay seller by email to find out if he sells other merchandise you need which he might not be selling in an auction.

www.rockauto.com also provides several manufacturer brand names for different parts, with respective prices.

Good Luck!

First, tell us if the instrument cluster was ever removed.

Mercedes Benz 280SE
In the Engine Compartment Fuse Box, there should be a big black relay (+/ 10cms x 3cms). This controls all your lights. If this relay has a problem, then it may account for your lighting problem. A suggestion is to swop this relay with one from a vehicle which has all lights working. If the vehicle has been rewired, check that the earth wires behind the cluster are firmly seated.
A break in the main light feed to the cluster is also a possibility to look at.

If you have free web space with your ISP, you can put the pics there and use the 'IMG' vB Code tag to insert it in the post.

I LOVE IT!!!

That's a REAL Mercedes. Not like the crippled American versions. As Mayor Quimby says "This stupid country."

Some nice little grey market MB action going on there, I like it! Now all you need to do is reconvert your car back to the original slim bumpers and away you go.
