Looking At 1985 5000SEL AMG - Is It Real?
There is a guy selling a 1985 5000SEL AMG on craigslist.
Since I don't know these cars very well, if anyone can tell me if this is a real 5000SEL and mostly is it a real AMG vehicle.
Vin: WDB1260371A118466
It decodes (sort of) to a euro-spec car, but doesn't mention AMG at all. I don't want to even look at this thing unless it's a real 5000SEL and mostly a real AMG and not just badged as such.
Thanks,
Mike

The VIN won't mention AMG. In those days you bought the car from MB, then sent it to AMG with your wishlist. 1985 was pre-merger with AMG. Share a link?

How tough are these things to convert to a normal suspension (struts/springs)?
If I did buys this, that would be absolutely a necessity. Don't think I want to drop thousands in re-doing the hydraulic suspension.
Any tips, hints or links to a how to would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Mike
