W126 560sec cold start issues
Hey team please redirect me if I am posting in the incorrect place. My 1988 560sec runs great once cranked however the cold cranking process itself takes 5 seconds or more. Thoughts?

My W126 E420 did the same and it bothered me, to where after a full tune up I tried misc things: I replaced the injectors, the fuel pumps, pressure regulator, the fuel distributor. The fuel distributor shortened the cranking, to 2 seconds or so. After that I had a W124 which did also crank when cold for 2 seconds or so.
At that time, I read that all the strange engineering that went into making these cars so reliable may have meant that the 2 second cranking when cold was built in, to give it oil pressure before allowing the engine to start. Having positive oil pressure BEFORE starting an engine is what military and ship engines do, for many years worth of reliability.
