Question Best repair manual and other newbie issues

Hello,

Newbie here. I was wondering if anyone could recommend the best repair manual for an ’84 380 SE?

I was basically given this very nice car.

Original owner
Never wrecked
Only 100,000 miles

So far only three problems:

- a popping in the left front (bushings, ball joint?)
- Occasional hard shifting and occasional difficulty shifting into park (tranny mounting bracket maybe?)
- When idling the car occasionally cuts out like there is water in the fuel (coil?)

Any advice or tips would be appreciated.

I don't think there are any aftermarket manuals worth getting for the 380SE. I know Haynes doesn't publish one, and Chiltons are very general. I found an engine and chassis original set on EBay for around $50.00. Think about an hour's time at the garage, money well spent.
I also have a crappy CD repair manual that sucks. Can't take it out to the garage with you, hard to find stuff, all kinds of problems computer related - who needs computer problems with a repair CD when you're trying to repair the car?
Register a favorite search on EBay and you'll find what you need within a month.

Thanks! Will do the E-bay thing.
I thought those MB manuels were from factory.
I will see MB mechanic this week and ask him where are the best ones to get...let you too.

Oh yes, I forgot, at some point in time MB changed to microfiche. I used to have a '76 450SE and had a friend who ran a garage and who used to work for MB. He'd lend me the fiche and I'd use my reader. Awkward, but very accurate and in-depth. Most of the published manuals, available from MB (still today, I don't know), were identical to the fiche. I don't see much of the microfiche for sale now though.
