Automatic gearbox updates
Sometime ago (years, probably) I read about how someone had come up with updates for the W126 gearboxes, where shifting was quicker and losses were reduced. It's not going to be 5 minutes worth of work and likely involved re-valving, perhaps some ECU work... I don't recall.
As the 'box in out 500SE is showing signs of being tired, slipping slightly between 2nd and 3rd (fluid and filter changed, etc) I'm planing a remove, refurbish and refit. If updates can be performed then this is the time to be doing it.
Engine is a M117.965, gearbox is apparently a 722.311.

Are you talking about a first gear start? I was considering doing this but got caught up in other projects this summer and work. You can always manually shift through the gears. If you plan on driving in wet or slippery conditions, you probably want to get going in second gear anyway
