A friend is looking at an 87 560 SEL with about 60K miles on it. The AC won't blow cold but other than that the car looks pretty good. I've browsed through the forum and got the impression that he should pay attention to the front and rear suspensions and the transmission. Anything else?

60k? damn, carfax and a looksee from the dealer or german specialist, isn't to expensive and well worth it, those cars are really strong will last him along time if he wants to keep it! Good find, any pics???? (not totally familiar with '87, the rear self-leveling suspension can be spendy, but at that mileage everything should be sound for quite awhile! Tranny shouldn't be a problem at that mileage.)

My 200,500 mile 560SEL has just passed its MOT test (a certifcate of road worthyness, I dont know what the American equivalent is)

I had bought loads of service items thinking it would fail, it passed with absolutely nothing required.

Mine has suffered from rust on the front wings, noisy top end on the engine and thats about it.
