Question Rear Seat Recline

I have an 84’ 500 SEL with reclining rear seats. Only one side, however, reclines (the passenger side works, driver’s side does not). Originally, I thought that this might be due to a seat motor failure on the drivers side, but after looking through some threads it appears that there may only be one motor that drives both sides -- and the recline action is tandem for both sides of the seat. Is this correct? If so, any suggestions at to what could cause this problem? (track issue, switch, other???)
Thanks

Try This

First let me ask if someone has recently taken out the rear seat? Either way what generally happens is that the lower seat extensions have gotten out of sync. You need to remove the lower portion(bottom cushion) via two 10mm bolts and nuts set from under the seat. examine the position of both rails and you should notice that the gear teeth are not in time with each other.

Use a set of pliers to compress the spring clamp and remove the cable drive from the side that is out of sync. Then move the seat frame into sync and replace the cable drive back into the motor. Make sure the cable drive is properly in place and secure with spring clamp. Test and repeat if not completely in sync. You will be able to tell if the seat starts to twist and bind up.

Good luck
