560 SEC interchangeable trans
Good evening,
I'm in the process of swapping my old 722.350 transmission out of my 1991 SEC. Only problem is, finding the transmission has become a headache as they're scarce. I did happen to find however, a 722.353 out of a 1990 SL. I've read online that yes, it should bolt up to the motor and work theoretically. However, does anyone know what the main differences are between these 2 transmissions? From what I've read, the gears are slightly different but what else is different? I'm hesitant on purchasing and throwing one of these in there as people post online that the trans. out of a 420 will work. Theoretically this might be true however it is a single clutch vs. a dual so I would imagine you're going to burn that thing out pre-maturely. I seem to be getting a lot of different answers in regards to this as many people are saying almost any w126 transmission will work but that's 100% not the case.
Any information in regards to this would be helpful.
Thanks!
