heater question

it got cold here the other day and i turned on the heater, i have the AC unit that has the dial on left and 5 buttons in the middle.

i turned the dial to heat and pressed the EC button, but the heat only came out of the dash front window vent, not the main vents. but when i turn the temp dial back to blue or cold, outside air comes thru the regular vents

is this how its supposed to work. thanks

What do you mean by "front window vent?" The dash is already on the front, so which vent are you referring to? Well, in the W123 and W126 chassis cars (and many other Benzes) heat only comes out through the leftmost and right most vents. Nothing comes out through the center vents to prevent fogging (safety issue). If that's the way your car is then all is fine. Otherwise, you need to attend to some vacuum lines that are messed up if the heat is coming out of any other vents or not coming out of the two vents I mentioned above.

meaning the front window defroster vent inteh dash. , heat comes from there, seemingly the floor and 2 sides u mentioned,

i guess i was so used to all the new cars were heat can come directly at u and warm u up, instead of just the whole car

thanks for being so knowledgeable abt all this
