Fun Fact: w215/e350/e55 amg blower motor+fan fit the 560sec (small modifications)
SubscribeI've had an '89 560sec for a couple months, and have been fixing a few things, HVAC being one.
The factory blower fan kind of sucked so I disassembled/cleaned/lubed it, and now it sucks and is loud.
Parallel to this occurring my blower in one of my w215's quit working. Seemed like the voltage regulator. Bought a used fan and regulator from an e350 for cheap.... Motors look very similar?
They are, same diameter motor (mostly, bottom 1/3rd of w126's is maybe 1/8" smaller diameter), years newer. Blower blades look IDENTICAL. Motor fits right in if you dremel about a 7/8 width channel through the w126's blower motor center sleeve/mount thing, and make the inside of the cylinder all smooth (1/8" smaller diameter of lower part of motor= a couple random pieces of plastic to fill the gaps). Retaining screw fits right in too! I went in after the fact with a couple giant zipties to snug the now-cut center support to the motor. Couple spade connectors, viola.
Fan blows hard and is quiet.
W215 is probably a bad connection point, after additional revelations.
