85 500 SEC oil smell

Well I have finely had a few days of driving my SEC and I have found a few weak areas that need attention.

1. Every now and than while driving I get strong smells of burning oil. I looked around today, and found that oil had been dripping from the oil filer cap onto the exhaust manifold. With the engine running, the oil filler open, there is no blow-by to speak of.

Q. Is there a crank case evacuation item that maybe stopped up that may require replacement or maintenance?

Probably a valve cover gasket leak. Are your valve cover gaskets dry?

Not sure about the Cam cover gaskets, records show they are not that old.

I have seen and have cleaned around the oil filler cap a few times. It really looks as thou it is coming from there.

Can it be as simple as a new cap or gasket for the cap?

You can get the gasket for the old metal style caps or a new plastic cap.
