560SEL
Talking need new springs

i need new springs for my 560sel. i decided to go for progressively wound coil springs as they are shorter in length for the same performance of regular wound coil springs, hence lowering the vehicle little bit. What brands of springs would be good and economical to buy. i am not willing to shell out big figures from my pocket

Be carefull I wanted to use the H&R lowering kit, but you will need new shocks and the ride will be stiff. H&R springs+ wheels with low profile tires = a very stiff ride. Look out for potholes.

I run H&R's in all my 126's.. Ride is Wonderful, not harsh, put nice and controlled. If you are Really worried about the ride being overly harsh, run Bilstein comforts w/ H&R's. My SEC has 17's, HD's up front and it's smoooooth! IMHO, H&R's are the best mod for the money out there for our cars!

BTW, I'll have a set of H&R's w/ less then 20K on them available soon.. My 560SEL got smacked

Hmm I might be very interested, I want to lower my SDL about an inch all of the way around. I think the gap between the fenders and wheels is to large.

I was going to drop $500 on the H&R kit but I didn't want to get stuck with a super stiff ride. Then I would be out $500- whatever I could sell the kit for.

I put on new Bilstein comforts all the way around last fall.

I know how a 95 S600 with 18in AMG wheels rides in sport mod. Does your W126 ride like that or a little softer?

Well, I'm running 18's on my 600, the ADS does a better job at keeping things smooth..also, a 140 and a 126 are two Totally different beasts, so a direct comparision is kinda tough....
I liken the H&R set up to feel more like a BMW. Still complient and comfortable but far less roll and thus nicer handling.
