Exclamation wheel bursted on highway..screwed up donor car!!

i had a tire explosion on a highway when doin 120MPh in a 83-500SEL.. i know.. my fault.. the tires were not rated for that speed.. anyway.. now my car shakes when driving. at all the speed.. from gentle shake at low speeds to aggressive vibration at high speeds.. i have noticed that the wheel whose tire was bursted is now a very very slightly bent and shakes zig-zag when driving causing the whole car to shake..

i am afraid i might have a bent drive shaft or may be just the rim..will get it checked at the workshop tommrow.. dont know exactly since i just got the tire replaced and slapped in the rim..didnt had spare...

my question is how much pain would it be to repair a bent drive shaft and how it would be undertaken.. wether whole differencial and axel should be replaced or the side which is bent cant be replaced alone.. is is worthed to fix this on a car i just purchased for $1500 USD only.. dont ask me how.. just got lucky.. its a donor car for an excellent engine, transmission, body parts, hydromat suspension and other mechanical stuff

Take the offending wheel off an put your spare tire on, see if that makes a difference. I would imagin after a blowout at 120 the rim would be shot.

Which wheel blew out?

A tire blow at such a high speed could be dangerous. Consider yourself to be very lucky. Do as Hattie suggested. That's an easy step in finding out the cause of your problem. The cost of performing all the work you asked about depends on how it is done and who does it. But indeed, it can get expensive on parts alone!!

Well you wouln't have bothered the drive shaft. (I'm assuming it is a rear wheel, because you said driveshaft) Since these cars have independent rear suspension the driveshaft and diff are mounted to the body and don't move. I also don't think you hurt a half shaft.

You could have hurt the wheel bearing or messed up the trailing arm somehow.

The next step is to get the car to an alighnment shop and on a lift.

You are just guessing as to what is wrong.

Are you really parting out the car? If so, I need quite a few items. Can you send me pics of the interior if you are parting it out and selling parts? My e-mail is braverichard @ hotmail . com Thanks!

The cost of shipping from Saudi Arabia might cost more than the parts you need tho...

How the heck is the drive shaft shot? It is in the center of the car mounted between two fixed points. Besides a used one is close to free and should take maybe an hour to change with a lift. How do you hurt a driveshaft? Their is nothing to hurt? Did the rear end come off of the car? Maybe the diff was shifted? I can't believe you would be able to drive it with that kind of damage, heck pulling it up on a flat bed would be fun.

Eh... you don't know the conditions over there in Saudi Arabia. Maybe he can't quite get free driveshafts over there.

I know finding a parted W126 must be real hard over their. They are probably the biggest market for MB's after us.

Any pics? It would be kind of neat to see how the rear end came apart.

first.. all of u excuse me for the late response, i was away for a while.. working totally out of city and civilization..secondly for the mistype in the price of the car when i started this thread i didnt mean 1500 USD.. i paid the same numerics in saudi currrency.. which equals to.. $400 USD..

the interior is in **** condition.. nothing usefull execpt the motors from the seat tho they sure need some servicing and sanding to clear rust..the leather is all rotting..the tablo doesnt work..

I find W126 parts easy here.. junked cars of all kinds are shipped from all over europe and america here for recycling..saudi is the second biggest car breaking and recycling industry

the tire busted bcuz i just wanted to try the car after i picked it up from the local mechanic.. and i went with ultra cheap quality defected tires stolen from the factory scrape yard and sold in black market..$100 for a set of 4..just to replace the four flat ones on it and test the car as the mechanic claimed the engine and gearbox is in pefect condition.. the end...couldnt resist the adrelin when driving such mint and powerfull engine car.. slap down the accelerator

the drive shaft is not shot neither the bearing.. but the rim is soo bent i can see it bent without rotating it...

when the wheel busted ..the friction form the road made all kind of sounds we have heard only in james bond movies..and the car went driftin right and left.. not too much.. i mainted quite control on it and stopped in the right..its not much severe when the rear tire get shot but the front one can kill u or roll the car...

anyway now back to the car..im gonna take the body parts like doors, fenders and stuff to repair my 560 sel which was rencently hit by an idiot pick up on the left side..the engine, trasmission and other usefull mechanical parts will be on the shelf for sale to someone needy..hydromat suspension is goin into my another 560 whose hydromat was cancelled by previous owner, the remaing body parts, 3 rims and stuff i can part out is goin to sit on my garage shelf till i get to use them.. the useless chasis left in the end will go to the poor joe at junk yard for free

btw if someone is intrested in purchsing W126, W124, and W140 body and mechanical parts in good quantity or bulk.. i can arrange for them at a good price and not soo costly shipping.. either from saudi arabia or the jordanian free zone..i dont know abt the taxes there but i think i might be cheaper bcuz exports to USA from gulf will be taxed lower than the exports from europe to USA.. if anyone can confirm this i will be very gratefull

here are some sample price from saudi arabia..

AC compressor..Denso 10P17- R12 or R134A refrigant = $66USD
W126 Chasis doors = $40 USD each

engines and transmission for W124 and W126 Chasis = not exceeding $400USD if they are in mint condition...other wise average is $150 - $300

Radiator brand new locally made = $100USD

bumpers for w126 chasis $66 USD each if in good dent free condition..

all parts are euro..

just for the fun of braverichard ..i have a set of drive shafts sitting on my shelf..and i dont know wether to keep it or throw it away

How hard would it be to get a complete set of euro wipers for a W126? I need everything, motors, brackets, arms, the metal covers below the head lights ect.

What about a euro front bumper?

I might be extremly interested.

How could we ship parts for resonable prices?

How the heck could I pay you? Would a money order from a major US bank work?

My Euro 500SEL's transmission may be dead. No gears engage. I'm having it towed to the MB shop to determine if that's truly the case. It could just be the bushings that are shot, however the car can't be pushed when in Park but it can be pushed when in drive so I'm pretty sure the transmission is dead. If that's the case, then I'll be parting the sucka out. It has headlight wipers so Hattie you could get them from me. I'll update you folks.

Just thrash 'em. They ain't worth crap. LOL. I didn't know you could get Mercedes parts that cheaply over there. Since that's the case, why not just replace the destroyed driveshaft with one of the several ones you have? Why not just fix up the car?

well i will just find the best parts at the best price i can and ship it to ya guys. ..u can send me the cash by draft or deposit it in my account in US.. after u have recieved a copy of shipment reciept or ur good..

remember i only mentioned mechanical parts.. cosmetic and body parts aint that easy.. but yet findable with some effort.. the mercedes vehicles made for the gulf and middle east market dont have wipers and washers for headlights.. rest all is same as their euro counter parts

front door chasis will be around $40 - $50 USD...find out yourself about the shipping

and dont even ask for interior.. a full leather replacement interior is $550 USD.. black colour.. package contains each and every minor to major parts including those of plastic and wood...

ohh and R12 is 4 times cheaper than R134a here.. :p
