Raced G55 AMG + E46 M3 tonight
hey guys,
tonight i raced roozy's G55 AMG and my buddies E46 M3 (same one as in teh videos recently posted vs. C32). I wouldn't really call it a "race" lol. Wasn't even close at all. looked like i was driving backwards. but none the less lotta fun. I still feel like top end is not strong enough so im gonna hopefully try and find some software b/c thats whats really killing my top end is lack of fuel. Anyways yet another fun night down in Houston TX

I think the problem lies in the fact that your car weighs ~4500 lbs and it is powered by a 3.2 liter 24 valve engine putting out a maximum of ~250hp to the rear wheels (with your mods) and ~260 ft/lbs of torque. The W140 sedans were made for class and prestige, not for performance by far. I say leave the S320 as it is mechanically before something goes horribly wrong. Work on some cosmetic modifications and hop in the M3 to cure any need for speed or power you may have.
Just my .02$ to save a W140 from dying too early.

ya i know what u mean. naw just doing software and headers after this (at the most) . BTW. There no way in hell im putting 250-260 wheel HP out. more like 250-260 CRANK HP . My M3 barely puts out 250 to the wheels and its got every mod in the book.

Get the e46 M3 or add a turbo to ur e36.....all ur needs would be fulfilled....
I barely ever put the pedal to the floor while riding the 500, even though it packs a punch, crap load of torque, but no match for most serious cars that pull up next to me at the light....But my M3, is a different story...
The post from above is absolutely right, our older engines are very fragile, and not made for racing, if u keep ragging on it, u may find out the hard way....Hopefully u wont.....
Enjoy the ride....

I'm a E36 diehard, Not a fan of turbo either. I'm happy with M3, i just wanted to make this car alittle peppier thats all. 6 cylinder motor is not fragile at all, the thing can take a beating and then some. if any part is weak, i'd say its the tranny but thats been rebuilt so its like brand new. I'm gonna add royal purple to the tranny for smoother and better cold weather shifting also. just little stuff here and there ( i may not even do headers, just software).

MB USA highly recommends to only stick with with one particular type of T/F, its made by Dextron or something like that.....but the reason could be that MB is making cheeze on the side from this brand.....

That is one reason (they get $$$), the other is royal purple is relatively new so benz wouldn't bother wasting time updating their recomendations for a 12 year old car. Royal purple is superior to any oil out there (even Redline which mercedes does recommend). i tried redline in my M3 and Royal purple exceeded its performance by a substantial amount. I will be switching over to royal purple very soon.

Like tyzik said, mbusa and the majority of mechanincs who deal with benz's like to use the Blue bottle (bosch?) ATF. It costs like ~15 or so dollars per quart. But I would like to hear how the royal purple is performing int omeyhomey's ride....
