500sel Problem with door lock/unlock/ trunk lock

Hello everyone I am new to this forum and have couple of questions regarding some problems I just recently encountered on my 92 500SEL. When I press the remote to unlock/lock the doors, the doors dont lock/unlock. Same goes with the trunk. The worse part is that the lock/unlock button inside the car also doesnt work, so basically nothin works. Now i have to open/lock all doors manually. First, I check the fuse and found out that #11 was burned out in the trunk fuse box. I replaced it and the trunk lights work agian, also the remote and everything works as normal. But somehow like a couple of seconds later, it was messed up agian. Can someone help me with this problem?

Another problem i have is that my windows dont do the auto one touch button on the window to roll up and down anymore, it suppose to automatically close and open with one touch of a button. Now its not working, I would have to keep on holding the button up or down to get the window to open or close. Does anyone know what kind of problem this is and how can we fix it.

Sum it up:
1. Door/trunk dont lock or unlock via remote. Also the lock/unlock button inside car doesnt operate either.
2. Window dont auto close and open no more.

Thanks in advance for your help

Sounds like you have an electrical problem if the fuse was blown. Did you check the replaced fuse after the system stopped working?

Have you disconnected your battery recently? This will require that you "reset" all your windows. To do this, command each window up by holding the window switch only part way down. In other words, just push the switch enough to get the window moving...don't hold it all the way in as if using the express up feature. Hold the switch until the window closes completely for 2 seconds, then let go of the switch. Repeat for each window. That should reset the express feature.

Hello,

If you check your fuses, and they are OK, sounds like you have a vaccum unit problem (not the expensive one for vaccum door closing assist). This one you can find on ebay for around $20-100 on ebay.

Good luck.

Thanks all for your help. When I started to have those two problems stated above, I went to my trunk fuse box and found out the #11 fuse was blown. I then replaced it with a new one. My trunk lights and everything started to work agian. However, a couple of seconds later the doors wont unlock/lock with the remote nor with the unlock/lock button in the car. Then I thought it was the fuse that burned out, but it didnt burn out. So i realized that it wasnt the fuse.

pcmaher- thanks for the reply. Did you said that there is a way to reset the windows. I will try that tommorow morning.
Do you know how to fix the unlock/lock button for it to work and for my remote to make it lock/unlock when i press on the remote button. The trunk does the same thing. It wont work either. Any more help is appreciated.

Thanks to mercedesauto. Thanks for the advice. Is that for the window ur talking about or is it for the locking system. Please let me know. Thanks all

You are very welcome. I was talking about the locking system, not the windows

I have heard that the vaccum pump is located somewhere in the trunk, and to replace it, you have to get a new unit, and just the part itself costs $1200. I really don't know where it is tho. Sorry
