Suspicious w140 on ebay?

I'm in the market for a 1997-1999 W140, and found this one on Ebay.

Not sure what to think of this ad, the car looks good, but the milage seems a bit low for the price doesn't it?

Oh yea, and the paint repair without an accident, plus the W220 mirrors which leads me to believe this was owned by someone who might not have taken good care of the car.

The price is excellent. Those mirrors appear to be custom made. Also, the engine bay is very clean (something you don't see too often in poorly cared for vehicles). If CarFAX and a MB Professional examination give a clean bill of health, then it looks like a solid deal.

1997 S600 - Bentley Turbo R (black/black)
I always look at ebay like you at 97 to 99 but mostly S500, AND S600...I am an addict of w140, and have owned 3 different ones.

Anyhow, i recall seeing the price and miles on that car and i did a double take because i thought it was an s500.

The car is a good deal, its not really priced too low, because its s320. Nevertheless, its a good deal.

You know alot of cars, usually have dings here and there. When i had my 97
S500, it was never in an accident, but someone keyed it the first week i got it, and i had to air paint spray the areas that was affected. Many dealers do that, and actually hire a guy that comes over once a week, to touch up areas of imperfections, using paintless dent removal, air spray etc.. to make the car more desirable for sale. That doesnt mean that the car has been in any serious accidents. For example, My wife just loves to scratch the right side of the front bumper on her cars. She did that to her range rover a while back, and now to her mdx, and i had that area on the bumper painted, that doesnt mean the car was in a major accident.

If you are worried, you can have the car obviously checked by mechanic before purchase, and also have a body shop look it over, if that dealership where your having it inspected has one.

You know to be honest, people will make a big thing out of any sort of paint work. As long as the car has had no serious accidents (i.e my wife scratching the front bumper on the range rover while parking), and as long there is no major body damage or frame damage, and if the carfax (not that it is always reliable anyhow) shows no accidents, and the title clear.......there shouldnt be too much to worry about.

I would be worried if the guy was asking $13k or so , then thats too low of a price, and should raise red flags..... But like i said....if your worried..do your homework, have it inspected both mechanically and by a body shop....

good luck

Those mirrors are euro-lights the car might be a import(grey market car)
maybe from canada. The price will be lower.

Ugh if you read the description the mirrors are off a W220. I think they look stupid, I'd switch them right back.

Car looks clean, has service records, and the price is about right. I see no red flags in the add or a reason not to check into it further.

btw I don't think the seller really knows what they are talking about. Claimed they replaced plug wires, M104's don't have "plug wires"

What did they change a coil or something? New MAF is a good thing, those always blow and are like $600.

I dont think that this car is aeuro spec. Those mirrors are a kit set. Also on the pic that has the closeup of the cluster you can see the corner of what I guess is the check engine light on the right? Only North American cars had this. Also there is no hazard triangle in teh boot lid, another North American thing, unless it has been removed. Also if you look at the doors see the locking switch? whatever you want to call it that moves up and down depending on if teh car is locked or not. Only North American ones are like that the rest of teh world sits flat. I would say that this is either a US or a Canadian car.

Also look at the pics for the services the pre delivery one is in Texas. I would say this car is new from texas.
