Might be selling the '98 S600.. after 8 years of ownership!
Well I think the time may have come. I retire in 7 months and I am looking to replace our 1998 S600. It has ~58K miles, meticulously maintained and preserved. Garaged at home and work. I even have the original sticker price! My wife and I have been looking at several slightly used Bentley Arnage Saloons to replace it. I will keep you updated if the S600 goes on the market because I recall getting several PM's about the car.
Take care!

Well after seeing a 1999 S500 Grand Edition with 76K miles sell for $28,000 on eBay... I am going to start at $34,000 or best offer for mine. I will most likely put it on eBay for exposure. A car like this with all records, 1 owner, etc should attract some attention. ... I hope!

I just bought a 1997 S600 black/charcoal with 62k today.(9/08/06) The 600 drives better than a bentley. I test drove a 1996 bentley turbo r black/black it has more prestige but thats about it. I decided to go with the 600 because it was half the price and twice the car. I really like you rims are those AMG mono blocks? What size would fit on a 140 S class?

the last bid was 22 100. and its a no reserve sale. there is only 1 day left. Are you going to let it go for low 20s?
I would at least expect very high 20s. I have seen a 1999 model with 32k miles went for 32000 about 3 months ago.

The S600 sold for $22,600.. far less than anticipated, but still $2K over KBB value. I can't complain, the new owner is a car enthusiast as well so it is in good hands.

98 S600
wow...$22k for 1998 S600 AMG w/ 58k and one owner...that's pretty impressive. i bet a clean S500 would go for more than that, and w/ higher miles too. who says you can't get good prices from current owner on MBWORLD? congrats to the new owner.
p.s. i'm still seriously considering an 01 S600 or trying to wait a little longer to find an 03 S600.

Looks like the Bentley might be up for sale soon. Living in a small town, it just catches too much attention, some of the wrong attention. I get scared to leave the car anywhere besides my work or home garage. If I lived in Miami or Los Angeles, this would not be a problem
As for the S600, it was sold and remains in good hands.

S600 vs. Bentley
What year and series of Bentley did you purchase? How does the Bentley compare to the S600 you sold? Aside from the attention the Bentley draws, do you prefer it over the Mercedes?

The Bentley is a work of art more than anything else. As soon as you see the paint up close, you can see how much time and effort went into it. The interior wood work, gauges, leather, and chrome is all finished and fitted so perfect. It is almost as if the car is made to be looked at instead of driven. The door sills and carpet are beyond words. No wonder her majesty rides in a Bentley!
Onto the mechanics, the 6.8 liter Turbo really moves when you want it to. With over 500 ft/lbs of torque, it is easy to go from 60-120 in a couple of seconds. The car is quiet at high speeds and handles great (better than the S600).
Now what year/model did I buy? I originally won a Arnage off eBay and flew to pick it up. It was in poor shape and not as described. I ended up going to the local Bentley dealership and picking up a 1996 Bentley Turbo R with 30K miles for $61,000. The car had fully documented history and had a original MSRP of $201,000. The original owner was Zsa Zsa Gabor! '96-98 was the last of the true Bentleys and really marked the peak of their excellence. 0-60 comes in just 5.8 seconds and the suspension firms up on demand. I drove the car 1,100 miles home and it was the best road trip I have ever made.
