might be buying a '94 S350 TD - comments?
Howdy!
I'm looking at a 1994 S350 TD with 285,000 km. The previous owner drove between Calgary, AB and Palm Springs, USA (thus mainly highway kilometers). The car seems in mint condition. I will be taking it to a MB shop to get checked out but I was curious as to what I should be looking at specifically?
I've read that this engine had a history of bending connecting rods? What would I look for in terms of engine problems? Is a compression test a reliable indicator? How can I test the A/C?
I would appreciate any and all comments!

As far as the AC goes I think there is a special test that they can run on it but as long as the AC is ICECOLD then it should be OK, alot of sellers who have a busted AC core try to get around it by saying "It just needs regassing" this is seldom the case.
AS far as the engine goes. With those type of miles and the history of that particular engine design I would say the car is a ticking time bomb. HOWEVER there was a program where MB did replace alot of those engines with a newer version that was alot better. Check the cars service history and have a look.
