And its STILL cutting out

ok folks, heres one for ya.. 92 - S320 I have changed crank sensor, fuel pump, fuel filter, plugs, checked fuel relay, plug leads, injectors, etc etc. Having had this car for several months now I'm losing it with Mercedes vehicles, Car starts drives for around a mile or so and coughs and splutters like you've ran out of fuel, engine dies, go to restart it and it'll turn over until the cows come home but will it start.... NO, good spark, injectors electrically ok, Leave it for approx 30 - 45 mins turn it over and it fires up like nothing was ever the problem and normally drive several hundred miles trouble free again until yes you've guessed it next day or week you drive a mile and life repeats itself. Any help please !!! before I buy a box of matches

You think it could be a charging problem with the battery, the alternator or something?

Can't see it being the battery somehow as when it cuts out I can try to start it and it will turn over and over and over for anything upto 10 mins but does not start... does not even fire ! so battery good just engine dead

Just an Idea, what about the fuel regulator. Sounds like you are maybe not getting fuel sometimes.

Over Voltage Protection? Dont know about your cars (140s) but w124s are prone to die out and cause all sorts of weird starting issues due to OVP relay.

Lays behind the battery (behind black plastic shield, next to ECU 10A fuse)
