Please Help! ABS & ASR light came on after.......
Okay so my dad drove the car(1993 500 SEL) to the bank, got back and the car would not start(battery dead?). I came to his aid. After opening the trunk and connecting the jumper cables, I saw that the cable connected to the negative part of the battery was connected but had a little play in it. As in I could pull it off the terminal without a wrench.
While hooking the jumper cables up a small spark came from the battery terminal. So I thought nothing of it and had the car cranked up and ready to go.
I then noticed that the ABS and the ASR lights were on. The car felt sluggish of course and the steering felt harder to turn.
I drove it home and let it run and then turned it off. Came back to crank it up assuming the voltage was back up past 10 volts. Guess what, it's till on! What could be the reason? Do you guys think that the spark caused a fuse to blow or something?
Even the radio would not work properly and said CODE on the front screen, the antenna goes up but that's it. I am taking it to the german mechanic here in town on tuesday but what do you guys think is wrong? Please help and any help would be much appreciated fellas.
Thanks, Jay

The radios need to be recoded after the battery is removed, I think the dealer can do it for you, check the fuse for the ABS etc removing it and putting it back in may reset teh system, I've disconnected the battery and had one run flat on my W140 before and never had this happen (abs) so I don't really know.

Fuse!
Thanks for the reply bro!
I drove it to the German mechanic and it was the fuse! Put a new one in and it's
back to normal
he even called in teh VIN number to get my unlock code too. And he didn't even charge me, what an awesome guy! German's are the best! If you live in the Savannah, GA area or close by then I would highly recommend taking your car to Autobahn in Savannah, GA! This guy really knows his **** and he used to work for the Mercedes Benz dealership!
Peace!
