600 SEL purchase
Hey all,
I am a total newbie to v12 engines and mercedes. I am looking at the most gorgeous 1991 600 SEL with 88,000 kms on it. It is going for around 20k canadian.
It has aftermarket 20's and exhaust. I am going to inspect it in a day or two, hoping to find out any common issues to look for. Also, in general, I am a bit nervous to own such a expensive name / large engine. Should one expect to spend a lot more on parts ? Is owning a v12 "actually" different than a v8 in terms of owner experience ?
I saw the original "top gear" slot on this car and it certainly seems to have a lot of gadgets. Do they often quit/need replacing or is the car still a very reliable machine to run day to day ?

A little more background. The car is imported from Japan to Canada which should explain the crazy low milage, and the clear corners except that they obviously have done aesthetic modifications. I think they will take 19,000 CDN.

Bucket, It sure looks nice. Can't be much help as I have an S320 but if you read through this forum you'll see varying info on the V12, Most Good. All I can say is its all in the up keep!! A little TLC will go a long way. Good luck, from what you say & show it looks like a good deal.
