Hey I was wondering if anyone knows what the warning lights mean in a 1991 300SE. One of mine has come on and it only comes on when I hit the brakes. Does anyone know what it is warning me about. I need to know so I can fix it. Thanks in advance for any answers anyone may have.

 

You have a brake light bulb out or need to change the brake pads/rotors. What does the symbol in the light look like?

Um, its a circle with like a perferated circle around it.

 

Brake pads. You have 500 miles from the time it first starts to blink.

Don't forget to check the bulbs like Trey mentioned. I know in my '96 that warning light comes on when a brake light goes out.

 

That's a different warning light: it looks like a bulb. The one described here is the brake pad icon. It's historical. It's a picture of a brake drum with brake linings around it (the dotted arcs). Never mind that brake linings are really inside brake drums. And never mind that, except for emergency brakes, MBs haven't had brake drums for years.
