1996 S320 Scratched Bumpers
I scratched the grey front bumper of my black 1996 S320 backing out of my garage to leave a number of white lines descending from the top of the bumper to the bottom in a swath of approximatley 4 inches long. How do I get rid of these white scratches from my grey bumper?

Is the white from your garage paint? If so, here's what you do.
1. Wash the bumper
2. Use a heavy duty rubbing compound. Try to buff out the white paint that has adhered to your bumper.
3. Use a wax/sealer to seal everything.

Scratched Grey Bumper
Thanks Ed,
The scratch marks are from the bumper rubbing against the concrete pillar at the entrance of my garage and likely is results from the concrete taking off the top layer of the grey bumper to reveal a white under coating.

Looks like a perfect job for the minor-repair shop, not the bodyshop. Don't know their names over there, but here they are the likes of Chips Away (which may have originated in the USA). They typically charge $150--300, well under bodyshop rates, and they won't take on jobs that they are not confident of doing successfully with their specialized techniques. Even better, find one specializing in plastics.

Dont u just hate that. I have my share of scuffed bumper! My 94 S320 benz was flawless garage kept with a bautiful maintained paint job. Untile One day I left the office for lunch and had my car detailed and coated. When I got back I made sure I parked it away from everyone in the company parking lot so my car was at least 6 parking spaces from anyone around it. Well after work I come out to find my whole paint job of the right side of my front bumper shaved off!!! I was in shock! who would take the trouble to get so close to my car when there is more than enough space to move around it!!! Took it to a body shop and they wanted to charge me 800 for repainting it! This makes me angry!
To top it off the paint that was rubbed off on the bumper was white. The only white car in the parking lot is my bosses white toyota!! Hmmm...hes like 60 years old and Im 22 maybe hes jealous! I have found my benz to be a stir for jealousy and I kind of want to get rid of it now I dont feel comfortable anymore!
