I have a 97 S500 Coupe, that needs a new grille. Is anyone aware of any aftermarket models? The MB only comes in chrome, but I would love black.

Wayne, I've got a '97 S500 that I just installed a "sport" grill in (larger horizontal slats, LARGE star emblem in center). I picked it up off eBay. Removal of the old grill and installation of this new one took all of about 10 minutes. It ended up not being the best of quality, but not total **** either. The nice thing about it for your sake is, it's painted silver instead of chromed and the center star (which is chromed) can be removed with some massaging of a couple heat stakes. You could prep and paint the body of the grill and easily re-install the emblem. I don't know if you're looking for just a black MB direct replacement (I'll sell you my old one), or something aftermarket/different like I've installed, but I can give you the name of the place I got mine at if you'd like.
