Help with these dang floor mat clips!
I may be a moron...but I just can't figure out these silly floor mat clips that came with my new OEM mats.
First it seems ridiculous that MB didn't design these better and have a clip mounted to the floor of the car that would mate to the mats. Instead, I get these two metal clips that look like some medieval minature torture devices. The instructions say to stab the pointy end thru the carpet on the floor with the point aimed to the front of the car (to keep it from slipping out) and close the "jaw" end on the mats. Well I can, with some trouble, get the pin thru the floor carpet, but there is a little "shelf" just in front of the seat so when I stick the pins in the mats are 1-2" forward of where they should be. If I stick the pins in facing to the side so the mat is in the right place, they just pull out after a few days.
I gave up and took them out. Now every time I get in the car I just pull the mat back towards the seat a bit. It's no big deal, but a minor annoyance and a detail I would expect to be better thought thru in a $135K car.
Well, there's my little rant.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Again, maybe I'm just a moron....
