2 problems! light bulb (?) and Coolant level

Hey!

first message here, I just got a georgous 1997 e-420 and I love it, but tonight I got 2 warning on my dash board! one about a light bulb, How do I find out what's wrong? then on the same day (i got stuck in REALLY bad traffic for a long time in Dallas (very very hot) and my engine temperature needle went almost to the red zone, then after the evening i got a message telling me there was something wrong about the coolant level.

I'm really new to these kind of cars! I used to drive a piece of **** and i never got "error messages" like this on my old Honda!

Is there any way to cancel these error messages so I can see the mileage and the temperature again (even though i'm aware I need to get this stuff checked out).?
