Suspension Troubles
HELP!!!!! I have a strange knocking noise coming from the lower passenger side of my 97' S320. I have looked and looked and cannot see anything obviously loose, but whenever I go over a bump or even a rough road it sounds like marbles rattling around under my car. I had an alignment done a while back and the mechanic said that he could not see anything out of the ordinary with the suspension. The ride seems OK, and the car does not pull or anything like that, but the noise is driving me crazy. I inspected my exhaust system thinking something could be loose. I secured one loose connection but that was not it and the problem is still with me. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this.

You may have to look at the side drive shaft where it connect to the wheel hub. If the sound is like heavy metal knocking sound, this seem to be the source. My wife car S280 having the same problem and cannot find anything wrong until one of the MB tech tell us. It come from the cross joint at the rear wheel hub. May be some lubrication can help.
