Engine swap '95 600 SL to '96 600S?

First, my mechanic told me to drive my 600S on home and bring it in to his shop the following day when it overheated. (You can already tell that I am not a rocket scientist, because that is what I did.) The engine harness melted a few blocks from his shop the next morning, and now he has it sitting on his yard for a year while I hunt an engine harness, and then he tells me the engine may be toast, if and when he can put it back together with a new harness. I found a '95 600 SL engine for sale, and I'm thinking a swap might be the smarter route, if the swap is possible. First, would the harness from the '95 work in the '96? Second, how much work would be involved in retrofitting? The guy selling the motor would include the motor harness, though he says it is not in great condition, and that the sale is for the long block only, no accessories or electronics included. Is there anything else I should ask him for if the motor would work and I were to buy it, electronic or accessory wise?
