W140 BOSE stereo review and opinions
Becker has since released a number of in dash CD players that are in keeping with the appearance of Merc radio's the current Traffic Pro and Mexico series. Apparently these units can be fitted to the W140 series with "some modification". Do any members have any knowledge or experience with fitting these Becker units and if so, what model will fit with what modifications?
Blast from the past...just surfing thru MBworld forums regarding Bose sound systems on W140 Benzes and i came across ur comment. Your speakers were crackling because of a bad amplifier thats located in the trunk (left side). I had the same issue which gave out loud annoying sound and crackling on the right front door speakers and had to adjust the headunit and fade out that speaker to drive in peace...mine started on one sunday morning, started the engine and here comes the headache. The fix was a similar year amplifier swap from the junkyard. There is a switch over and two types of amps (v1 91-94,v2 95-99) their sizes and connection sockets are different so must be verified and matched. The amp i swapped in was literally in an open trunk with water surrounding it below and even some moisture was present on the metal cover and yes inside had its share of moisture. I shaked some water out of it and just brought it home with the other amp i found. Had two amps to swap on mine and to my surprise, the one that appeared new, spotless from the outside and inside had some issues while the wet amp with water inside it worked flawlessly and is still working today 2 years after replacement. Now after reading how new headunit changes the sound experience to a whole new level so much so that you will think you got your speakers and subwoofers changed to new S Class speakers. People on 140 forums with Bose sound system package are recommending amp and headunit to revive the audio experience to the next level. I prefer stock looks and stock sound systems on most cars than having those colorful headunits that looks out of form on a 90s classic. Makes it look cheap and not period correct. If i change my headunit *which is highly unlikely* it must be some quality kenwood, jvc, sony, becker, pioneer etc eith less flashy, sedated, subdued, stately equipment that goes hand in hand with the aesthetics and nature of the interior and lighting. So yeah also there sre headunits made by becker which is sold and shipped from NJ. They have headunits that looks like exactly the 80s, 90s, early 2000s headunits with modern bluetooth or if preferred, aux port pre installed on the retro looking headunits with modern internals made to look at home in classic cars instead of dealing with modern eyesores that takes away so much from perceived value and looks of the vehicle. Im rapping all this unnecessary mess while sitting like a slav-slav with no E- look it up and stop being racist for those who went there lol.. so yeah im yallin all this shyytt cuz im docked of them jammers n reelin them clouts yerrr. Aight now peace man. Siri delete note and close. Siri delete stop and post comment
