minor car ticks driving me crazy

hey MBWorld how is everything? WellI need some sugestions to fix some problems with my 95' S500. So far all th advice I have gotten has been spot on.

Well my speedomter is not working at all, the odometer, trip counter ect. is all not working, however the tach, clock, oil, ect. all works, the srs light comes on somes times at start ups but usually goes out relatively fast.

I did check the fuses that you guys pointed me to infact I checked all the fuses and none of them are blown. Does anyone know what may be wrong with my speedo, odometer, ect,?

I could really use some pointers on what to check or fix now that I know all the fuses are infact good. Also i HAVE A SINGLE BUTTON KEY FOB THE RED LIGHT FLASHES WHEN BUTTON IS PUSHED BUT IT DON'T SET OR DISARM THE ALARM.

The other day the alarm went off and the only way I found to shut it off, arm it or disarm the alarm is by usen the key in the trunk lock? Does any one have any pointers on what I need to do to take care of this problem or is their a way I can reset the key?

It was pretty easy to reset the keys on my ml320. I tried to use the procedure that the ml320 uses to reset the key on my S500 but it didn't work on this key.

Any advice or assistance I can get will be greatly appriciated guys Thank you

Robert, I dont think you mentioned the ticking noise... Wheres the location of the tick, tick ,tick... The speedo problem could be a few things, could be left front wheel speed sensor. It could also be the ABS module. Do you have a digital or analog odometer? No idea about the alarm issue..

the odometer is digital, also the abs light is always on and recently the check engine light came on. I cannot find the plug to the ecm to check the codes. Do you know where that is? And how can I tell if the left front wheel sensor or the abs module is the cause of the speedo problem?

That seems kind of odd to me though because the speedometer is a "mechanical" needle so how would a sensor be the cause of the speeometer be the problem, does the s500 have a mechanicle speedo cable? or does it convert to a digital signal?

Well just went out for a ride and noticed the tranny is slipping in the 95 S500? It drives great but as soon as you give it any gas it starts to sliup under a load. Roll into the gas real easy and it is fine. Is this time for a new tranny? Or maybe a kick down cable adjustment seeing if you step rite on it there really isn't a kickdown gear just slow steady acceleration
