naw but seriously, if you want free HP right now just take off the intake baffle, should be good for at least a few HP. then get a K&N cone filter.

What year is your S320? I have 93 which was the last OBD1 year so my car will respond to mods much better than the OBD2 benzes.

you can get remus univeral twin tip mufflers for $300, they are very high quality and have a very refined german sound. they do require welding but so do most exhaust so its not a big deal.

I may just run straight pipes up to the remus exhaust b/c cat removal (espcially on OBD1 cars), it shouldn't be too loud but still be very aggressive. I just have to figure what to do about the rear valence.

Dropping to 10W-30 synthetic instead of that 15W-50 sludge that comes stock.

hope that helps

It could make more HP, till your engine warms up and it starts sucking in hot air. Then it will begin making less HP than stock.

it would without the intake baffle removal, but thats why i did that so fresh air is always entering engine bay and at higher speeds its rammed into engine bay so again thats never an issue.

Sorry, 99bmw740il, but I have to agree with OmeyHomey. You've been on his back ever since he started his project. Why? If you don't like his car, fine, but you don't have to put him down. It's true, we're all entitled to our opinions but there's no need for childish put-downs.

OmeyHomey, don't worry, people will always talk. Just ignore him and before long he'll realize that he's wasting his breath. Good luck on your project and keep us posted!

Your right- we are entitled to our own opinion... SO I AM POSTING MINE. I don't have a problem with his car, i like the w140. I post my OPINIONS on what he does to it...

S32...ok, S32 w/ AMG... poser. Intake by header- not smart... again my opinion- take it with a grain of salt

Omey, how could you call my car a pos?
Maybe if it was a 728 with ///M badges you would like it?

If you don't have any thing nice or productive to say then don't say it at all. Flaming is not allowed and i'm suprised moderators haven't already kicked you off. Mercedes will ALWAYS be a better car, thats just the bottom line. you are obviously in denial.

Why is it stupid that I am actually modding my car. I'm one of the only people on the W140 forum to have actually provided dyno graphs. I am actually finding ways to add power to the W140's which is hard to do. I am sharing the knowledge i have learned with other W140 owners. I am actually doing something productive and helpful with my time. You don't even have a W140, why are you on this forum?

I am documenting every step of the process on my car and I have done baseline dynos and i will eventually do final dyno to show the gains I have made to substantiate my claims and show other W140 owners that you don't have to cough up $1000's just to get power, it can be done in an inexpensive and effective manner.

Keep bashing me if you want but you are just wasting your time, i'm actually doing something productive and you are not.

Clearly from reading this post 99bmw740il is either 10 years old or has way too much free time on his hands, or perhaps both.

typical ricer comment- except you prefer to rice benz instead of honda

Your right- your v6 tank is faster, handles better, brakes better, looks better, is more reliable, and is just better then my bmw 740...

hello everyone, Just updating everyone on whats new...

I will be putting AMG badge on soon. Also I have been looking at various options for high power output and i have narrowed it down to the Mosselman twin turbo kit and at 50 shot NOS kit from NX nitrous. I want to keep it conservative just to stay on the safe side. I would make the kit completely stealth so nobody would really know (all wiring hidden and bottle in spare tire well). Turbo kit is obviously better choice but its 10 times as expensive and i could easily resell NOS kit where as turbo kit would have very limited demand. NOS kit is about $600-700 installed, turbo kit is $6500 without installation.

As far as exhaust I still havent decided what I am going to do. I need to fix the rear valence issue first. If anyone can give me a name of someone in tucson that is capable of doing that I would appreciate it. I will soon be doing Ceramic coatings and port and polishing so i may do the stock headers to really help flow. I may also just run straight piping up to the remus exhaust to really get full air flow out of the motor as possible

Springs will most probably be going on the car early this summer. I think I will be going with Eibach and #1 spring pads (i think these are the lowest pads). the stock suspension is feeling very very loose (almost unsafe) so i will tighten it up a bit.

anyways just let me know what yall think (this excludes 99 740il)

OmeyHomey,

I was just curious about your goal in terms of performance. Do you want your car to be a 13/14 second car or something? Is the W140 capable of such numbers?

I will be happy with high to mid 14 sec quarter mile but realistically low 15's would do just fine (especially for a 6 banger). The v12's S140 are easily capable of those numbers. however I am limited with what i can do. The 3.2L inline six is a gem of a motor but its in a tank. 50 shot will put me into the 15's definately, 100 shot would make 14's possible but i doubt the motor can handle that much. 50 shot is a safe amount of NOS, anything higher and i'd get worried.

I would also like the car to handle better as well, I'm a suspension freak but unfortunately on a car with so little options the only thing i could do is springs and shocks (or get sway bar for $680 which in my opinion is a ripoff. ) Eibach springs with #1 spring pads will low the cars center of gravity by alot and help performance as well. The car already handles alot better with low profile tires but the suspension is way to soft for my liking.

stock quarter mile time is about 16.5-16.8 i believe. its pretty slow but it doesn't take much to drop it from that. intake and weight reduction alone will drop it quite a bit. but yes it is slow.

stock 0-60 is about 8.5-8.8ish. 1/4 mile like 16.5-16.8

I have a S320 as well (1995 white/black SWB)...140,XXX miles on the clock...still runs like new...

your car has come a long way...has the ride been compromised after install of the 18" AMGs?

The ride is definately firmer but it feels solid, it makes a S320 feel like a S500. The cornering is MUCH better , turn-in and handling at limits is so much better. The ride is firmer but again in my opinion its definately much more worth it.

OH,

What's your budget for this project? You have a made quite a few mods already and seem to be considering some even more expensive ones. What have you spent so far and what do you plan to spend all in?

Thanks for keeping us all posted on your progress - it's fun to follow.

I don't want to spend way too much but here is what i've spent so far...

- 9" K&N cone filter = $15 shiped on ebay
- Flat hood emblem = $20
- 18x8.5 / 18x9.5 rear Rims with 245/275 40 profile tires = only $1000
- JVC stereo = $198 shipped from ebay
- 3M 35/20% tint = $250 w/ lifetime warranty

Overall i really have not spent that much. The only thing left i really have to do is the exhaust mods and nitrous and xenon bulbs and suspension. it should be one of the nicest handling W140's out there (i'm a bit of a handling freak). anyways i will definately keep yall updated.

Hey, thumbs up on the mods
Just a suggestion, get the Mercedes-Benz catalog from www.performanceproducts.com, they have double exhaust for your car, that won't need to cut or modify the valance.
I would post pictures, but with the maximum 1 byte picture size, I can't do it.
