98 Soft Close problem
Hi guys, i own a 98 S300TD and the VIN decoding tells me i have soft close: 883 CLOSED AID FOR DOORS AND TRUNK LID
But no doors/trunk lid seem to have this feature....What should i check? All fuses seem to be ok. The handle that comes out of the trunk works fine.

Try removing number 9 fuse in the trunk. When mine stops working thats how I temporarily bring it back to life. Probably a major issue somewhere that needs attention. I think there is some information floating around here that talks about the close assist function. Best of luck

Search the w140 forum, I remember reading about soft close issues, replacing the fuse is a temporary solution, there is a vacuum pump under the rear seat, vacuum hoses are known to fail, etc. use the following as a starting point
