thought i would let everyone know that i finally, after 6 months i cleared up my speaker "popping problem." i know that this amp has been known to have problems so i suspected that it was the culprit. to make a long story short, i replaced both the amplifier and the head unit to no avail - turns out it was the "amplifier tuner" that was defective. this unit sits right over the left rear wheel in the trunk.

* now i sit with two amps...anyone who needs a replacedment w140 bose amplifer, i have one for sale that works perfectly fine. i was going to put it on Ebay but wanted to give everyone a chance here first. first $300 takes it. thanks.

I went thru the same drill, I installed one at the dealer, it did not fix it. They took it back, being friends they sent me to a authorized repair facility, where they also installed a rebuilt. We had the same problem, they repaired the tuner, which uses the same defective capacitors. Working great for over a year.

Hi Ben-
I am in the process of diagnosing the radio problem. I am thinking it is my amp. Can you please give the part number of the amp? Is it new , remanufactured or other? I have a 1993 300sd whose parts are sometimes different that the other Ss.

Do not buy a used amp, it will go anytime...send yours in to get rebuilt...the company Radioman offers a 3 yr warranty. They had mine sent back within days....highly recommended.
