93' black 400 sel
shifter knob

can someone please tell me where I can buy a shifter knob for my 93' 400 sel I'de like to buy a leather with the star emblem on top I currantly have just the plain black one that came with the car.
I checked performance products but I dont see one for my car.
please help.

a Few Nice cars.
Sup Dude..go to ebay and type Mercedes shifter knobs and you will see plenty of knobs going from $35-85(the real nice ones) good luck

The deal with the shifter knobs on 140s is that MB changed the design half way through the 1995 MY. The old type is permanently affixed to the shift lever, whereas the new type uses a bayonet mount and removable/changeable shift knob.

You can retrofit your ride with the new shift lever, available from the dealer and some aftermarket shops like Performance Products. The MB part number for the new shaft is 140 267 05 01 and usually sells for less than $20. Since changing the shaft is only slightly more complicated than changing the old style shifter, there is little additional time investment.
