1992 600sel electrical problem

1992 600sel electrical problem
Happy new year to all
I have just acquired a 1992 600 SEL in near mint condition stored for years it has 116,000 miles. the problem is it starts but no response from the gas pedal. I checked the codes with the button provided by the factory and get a code 17 . I have tryed to look up the code the best i can come up with is no communication between ecu's. the engine harness was replaced in 1999. any advise.

I have never seen a engine like yours so first I would see how your throttle works.Is it electric or mechanical. Parts I do know is on some car the gas pedal has to be replaced,some have a throttle posistion sensor.Some cars before 1996 have biodegradable wiring to the throttle bodies.

No other lights on. i did check the wiring in the engine compartment and found it looks like the MAF sensor wiring harness is bad . i ruled this out because there is a note on the engine trim that says engine harness replaced in 1999 i found where they put zip ties it squeezed the bundle and caused a short between wires. I am building a new harness and rechecking.
i will update thread after i replace the harness.

Forgive my ignorance but what is the 120 engine ?. I would rather buy one than make it. I am a product development engineer at ford motor company, I started as a Mechanic and prototype work.
I know i can do it but i would rather buy one. are they out there that do not have the bad insulation.
you had mentioned a HHT tool I have several obd2 scan tools but nothing for the obd1 system can you recommend a good one and where to get it.

Only good tool is the genuine mb system, find someone with an star diagnose system to check it for you. 120 is the start of the engine number v12 6 litre. The engine harness is not part of the maf harness on that car, so good luck in finding it, way easier to rewire its only 5 wires per maf
