You can't get more horsepower with another air filter. To get more horsepower, one would have to assume that the designed OE filter was starving the engine for air. Why would the engineers design a filter that would restrict what the engine needed? If the manufacturer could get 10 more horses by just increasing the filter surface area, don't you think they would do it? The whole K&N filter stuff is built on a myth, just like mystery oil additives (see Slick 50 posts on this page).

Rapid I totally understand where you are coming from. But the fact is that mercedes benz used paper air filters, that saves them dollers on every single car they made. paper air filters allow less air in.

Not if you increase the surface area so you are getting all the air the engine needs. Only if the engine is starving for air could you gain more HP by a filter change. If it's now getting 100%, you don't increase HP by giving 110%.

k&n do let more air in but they also let in more junk. They simply dont filter as well as a oem filter. If you want more air in the intake, best bet is to go with a supercharger or turbo.
