S600 Alternator issue

1994 S600 Coupe. The original alternator needed to be replaced. MB Alt and Pulley is no longer available. I purchased a Bosch AL 0169 X which comes without the Pulley. When I installed it the pulley does not align with the other pulleys, causing the belt to climb the smog pump pulley, and trash the belt.Bought a second AL 0169 X and it is the same. The unit can't be bolted in wrong. The pulley can not be shimmed . Any ideas, anyone seen this, Thanks.

Yes, its a pita. I had to shave some material off the mounting ears, and add washers to space the alternator towards the radiator. been working fine for the last six months. File the ears a little at a time, use a micrometer to get the same thickness, test fit every so often and eyeball the alighnment to the air pump. It will work, but took a couple of hours. I could not find an 8 groove pulley that would work. Good Luck
