S600 A/C problem (on drivers side only)

No matter what temp (even at max coldness) I set the driver's side climate control to, the driver's side vents blow out hot air. The passenger side works fine.

Fiddling and turning the climate control "wheel" will sometimes bring back the cold air, but after a while the hot air comes back again.

Does this mean the control unit needs to be replaced? Or is there something else I should check?

Thanks.

Sounds like a damper issue. Ironically, I am taking my SL600 in to the dealership for the same sort of issue.... The drivers side vent always blows hot air and the passenger side vent doesn't blow any air at all. I take the car in on 14Sep, so I'll let you know the diagnosis.
