I know my car is faster then 14.5 because I raced a civic that ran 14.4-14.6 all day and I blew him away by close to 3 cars. I really gotta get my car 2 the track

S320 should be able to do 0-60 in about 9 ~ 9.5 Sec, 1/4 in about 17.xx.....
s0vietbenz,
S320 has Inline-Six, not V6....

OH, and what else you have done to your S500?? It seems your S500 is as fast as W140 S600, if not faster....

Keep in mind that, 500E/E500 (W124 E-Class) used the same engine as S500, with one exceptions.... Those put in 500E/E500 are hand-selected and proven to be the strongest of the bunches..... Maybe you were lucky and have a stronger one in your S500?
Anyways, keep us posted if you do go to the strip!
P.S. These DOHC V8s tend to be very sensitive to any increase in temperature.... Let it cool down enough between each strip run would usually yield best, most accurate strip time...

1992 400SE makes 282HP/302lb-ft instead of later 275HP/295lb-ft(1993 and on)... With 2.82:1 final ratio....
On comparison, S500 puts out 315HP/347lb-ft, but also carries a bit more weight, and runs 2.62:1 final ratio....
And except bore and stroke, both 4.2L and 5.0L are virtually identical and has exact same moding limits....

S500 with 315hp/347lb-ft also has 5 speed versus 4 in your 1992. DOes 1992 S400 start in 1st or second gear , because rennTech has for sale switch to defeet 2nd gear start.
Perhaps we just have different personal experiences .

It's not 'til 1996 when V8 and V12 models get electronic 5-speed auto. But you are right, theoratically, newer S500 should actually be slightly faster in acceleration with 1st gear start....
On old 4-speed hydraulic auto, you can force the tranny into 1st gear by put the gear in "B" position, this would put tranny in 1st gear even if you switch back to "D" afterward.... But of course, you would have to do it every time...

1997 S600 - Bentley Turbo R (black/black)
S7.3s
You know how unbelievable and how powerful a motor of a w140 is to lift almost 5000pds...and still go 0-60 around 6 seconds....
I just love the feeling of the power when my s500 lifts and begins to accelerate .....
I just bought a 750il, and v12 in that ....sounds like a ferrari....it roars when you accelerate, but its smooth as silk when shifting...but some reason, i still find my s500 is more intimidating...
While on this subject....... does anyone know where to get that w140 rennetech s7.3s....it supposed to do 0-60 in 4.5 seconds !!! i went to brabus and rennetech sites, and all they have is newer modified w220.....
When i do a search on that renntech s7.3...all i seem to pick up is foreign sites ..maybe russian or german .....

I had the pleasure to be the passenger in an C140 7.3S some years back in Taiwan...... All I can say is.... HOLY ****...... That thing pulls as hard as F355, if not harder yet the engine is silky smooth @ cruise speed..... Feels just like stock S600 when driven at ease....

But those are truely rare-breed, and many might sit in garages for life as Garage Queens....... Good luck hunting down one....
