Question 1992 3oose Issue Hesitation/slow Accel

HEY ! IM NEW TO THE FORUM SO ANY ADVICE WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED. 5 MONTHS AGO I PURCHASED A 1992 300SE THAT HAS A CURRENT MILAGE OF 122,000 (111k WHEN PURCHASED) OVER THE LAST MONTH IVE NOTICED A LOSS OF TAKE OFF POWER AND HESITATION , AND SLOW ACCELERATION UPON A DEAD START. THE CAR ALSO SHAKES WHEN AT A RED LIGHT(OR STANDSTILL) , THE IDLE STAYS THE SAME. I HAD A NEW CAP/ROTOR PUT ON. MECHANIC SAID WIRES WERE FINE AND PLUGS WERE CLEAN. UPON A RECENT 600 MILE TRIP THE PROBLEM STOPPED FOR 2 DAYS THEN RE-APPEARED . ONCE THE CAR IS IN THE HIGER GEARS I CAN STILL FEEL IT STUTTER/SPUTTER AND DIGG FOR POWER....SO BEFORE I START DUMPING MONEY INTO THIS ISSUE, I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT ELSE I CAN HAVE CHECKED, ALSO WHEN I PUT MY HAND UNDER THE TAILPIPES I CAN FEEL IT SPUTTERING LIKE A MOTORCYLE , ANYBODY , SOMEBODY PLEASE THROW ME A LIFE VEST

a Few Nice cars.
Hey bud there could be serveral things,im a worry bug so anything that happens to my cars scare me however yours might be a simple as this...you sai dit went away after a 600mile trip that could mean your local gas station might have bad gas, thus making your car drive fine while you were on your trip, and not using your local gas station!! that would be a simplest thing,or it could mean you could need a tune-up,motor mounts, check ALL your plugs, some could be bad or off...lots of different things,im leaning towards the bad gas though-benzkid

600SEL
I had the same symptoms/problems on my '94 s320(same engine).I took it to the main stealers in Leeds and it turned out to be the HT leads(they have coils in them instead of a distributor),fitted new and everything was as it should be!That was 3 years ago and they charged me £88.00 - so not that bad.

Unhappy

Thanks for your replies , Benzkid its definetly is not the gas i have bought gas from all the Major and Minor stations (Gulf, Sunoco, Mobil, HESS...etc) I will be taking it in for a diagnostics, but i am worried because it seems that once the stealer gets there hands on these cars , all types of stuff starts going wrong. The car is not getting the horses on take off and when needing to accelerate its like a putt putt , the tranny shifts clean. When i first start it up it revs fine!! then after the idle settles down it starts to shake like a diesel truck, im just looking for some pre-impetive answers to bring to the stealers table.

Does the vibration go away once you pick up some speed/rpm?? I had similar problem as you couple years ago, and it turned out to be bad plug wires, and 3 of the 8 cylinders were not firing right or not firing at all.....

S320
Have your main wiring harness checked out for cracked or deteriorated insulation possibly causing shorts in the electrical system. There is history of this with your symptoms in early/mid 90's 140 line. Don't know for sure if your year and model had the same harness.

Yes it does seem to become unoticeable at higher RPMS , and Speeds, like i said on the 600 mile trip i was averaging a speed of 60-80 MPH , so it was fine but at the dead start it just sluggs along. So i will try the plugs as well , tech said they looked fine? I couldnt tell what should i look for , corrosion? and darkness?

Since you already changed the distributors and caps, I would say go ahead and change out plug wires first.... If problem persists, then try plugs....

But what loveit_but_hates said might be your 1st priority... Find out if the wires have deteriorated... If not, go ahead re-check plug wires....
