windshield wipers - don't work except for when pushing in stalk
I recently purchased a 1996 S320. I cannot get the windshield wipers to turn on. The only way they move is by pushing in the stalk, activating the windshield washer (and swiping the blades across the windshield 2 times).
The previous owner told me that they were tempermental, but I need to figure out how to reset their 'brain' or get them working (at least long enough to get it inspected for a new Texas title) - I don't really care if they work, as I use Rain X.

I had similar symptoms with my 95 S600, and it actually turned out the be the N10 relay, which is NOT the main wiper relay that sits directly above the engine compartment fuse block. That relay is the main wiper relay, however the N10 relay that sits inside the relay compartment below that wiper relay, turned out to be my culprit.
I spent $200 and installed a brand new combo turn signal/wiper stalk, and later found it was the N10 relay. Other symptoms of the faulty relay was weird behavior of the factory radio, it would not turn off even after turning the car off and taking the key out of the ignition.
